The Kappa Kombat jersey is back AS Monaco has just worn the Kombatt XX, 20 years after the launch of the shirt that changed the football scene forever
The KombatTM 2000 model introduced by Kappa in 2000 is one of those that made the history of football kits: designed by the Turin brand to become the 'second skin' of the players, exploiting a more elastic and resistant texture, was worn by the Italian national team in occasion of the Belgium & Holland European Championship, when Italy went close to the title before to lose through the golden goal. The Kappa's kit designer Emanuele Ostini, who was inspired by the world of surfing as well explained in this article, defined it like that:
'When the defender takes Inzaghi's shirt, the shirt stretches and the referee sees it. It extends to over 40 cm more than normal and with 40 cm more, you will have the opportunity to score more goals!'
