The collab between The xx and Raf Simons has been confirmed It will drop on December 12th
UPDATE 06/12/2019: After being officially confirmed a few days ago, the collaboration between Raf Simons and The xx has finally appeared. The celebratory capsule includes limited-edition t-shirts, hats, brooches and patches. The collabo marks the tenth anniversary of the band's debut album. The highlight of the collection are the digitally printed cotton patches with which to customize the clothes. There are already two exclusive boxes on The xx's website, each containing five patches of different sizes and X-shaped pins with the initials R.F. About his admiration for the band Simons said:
“The album represents a very distinct sensibility linked to youth culture at the time. It succeeds in articulating and putting into words what is going on in the minds of kids when they’re dealing with love, heartbreak, friendships. And not in the stereotypical way, it seemed much more real in a way. More authentic”.
Raf Simons loves music and has always incorporated references to his favourite bands in his work. In this sense, his FW98 "Radioactivity" collections modelled on the Kraftwerk aesthetic, the FW 2001-2002 "Riot, Riot, Riot" that took up the iconography of the band Manic Street Preachers and the FW03-04 "Closer" that drew from Peter Saville's graphics for New Order and Joy Division. As for The xx, Simons had collaborated with them and photographer and filmmaker Alasdair McLellan on the music video for I Dare You two years ago.
