The outfit worn by the mysterious horsewoman at the Olympics will be exhibited in Paris In the third edition of the ‘Fashion in Motion’ exhibition
If the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was full of spectacle, glitter, and surprises, it was also marked by an intriguing and mysterious figure: the silver rider of Jeanne Friot. Although the name of the designer behind the famous metal outfit that dazzled the audience has been revealed, the mystery surrounding this figure and her art has not dissipated since last August. Having just presented her FW25 collection at Paris Fashion Week, Jeanne Friot is set to return to the spotlight, bringing a touch of bittersweet nostalgia from that magical summer in Olympic primary colors. On the occasion of the collection exhibition "La Mode en mouvement #3," presented from February 8 to October 12, 2025, the Palais Galliera will unveil the rider’s outfit for the first time.
As the grand opening ceremony approached, Daphné Bürki, director of styling and costumes for the four Paris Games ceremonies, invited Jeanne Friot and leather artisan Robert Mercier to create one of the most striking silhouettes of the opening ceremony. Both an embodiment of Joan of Arc and Sequana, the Seine goddess irrigating the host city, this rider is also a messenger of peace and the Olympic spirit. Two identical models were worn: one on the mechanical horse descending the river, the other, now presented at Palais Galliera, for the handing over of the Olympic flag at the Trocadéro. The exhibition "La Mode en mouvement #3", celebrating the link between body, fashion, and clothing, allows visitors to rediscover one of the most striking silhouettes of the opening ceremony. It’s a chance to kick off the third installment of the collection exhibition "La Mode en mouvement," which presents, through the museum’s collections, a history of fashion from the 18th century to today.
