The new Under Armor One "Origin" for Joel Embiid Cameroon, Kansas, Phila in the 76ers player personal "process"
The NBA scene right now is dominated by the upcoming Finals between the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers. But while the greats are competing for the title, the rest of the teams don't stand still. The teams do not stand still nor the players. This is the case of Joel Embiid, center of the Philadelphia 76ers, who launched his first signature shoes with Under Armor. The UA Embiid One "Origin" finally arrives on the market - with some delay compared to the date set months ago. Mr. Process, as everyone in Philly now calls him, signed a 5-year contract with the Baltimore-based brand in October 2018, making him one of the richest players in terms of endorsement revenues.
Under Armor first involved Embiid and partnered him with designer Reggie Wilson. The two have worked hard in recent years on this project and the creators say they are very satisfied with the work.
"Joel was involved in every step of the way - from developing his logo to deciding what city names to include on the outsole. Early on, he shared his journey with us. In later meetings, he was heavily involved in colorway selections. I think that was one of his favorite parts of the experience."
Reggie Wilson, Under Armour basketball designer
From the photos of the projects it is perfectly clear how much research, innovation and aesthetics work went into the new edition of the Embiid One, available all over the world starting from 2 October on underarmour.com.
