The Vampire's Wife and Globe-Trotter, together for an exclusive luxury luggage collection When style and elegance come through in how you travel
"They make you look like you’re practising witchcraft in a very romantic cult, which is how I want to look all the time. As a musician, I worship at the altar of Nick Cave, so I’ve always been fascinated by Susie as his enigmatic muse and inspiration. It’s been so beautiful to see the muse become the maker," Florence Welsh once said when talking about the clothes created by Susie Bick Cave for The Vampire's Wife. And it is this, along with quality, timeless elegance and an aesthetic imagery that quotes Victorian gothic aesthetics, pre-Raphaelites and romantic poetry, that has made the brand founded by former model and wife of legendary Australian musician Nick Cave a cult favourite that has won over a whole host of celebrities (and more), from Alexa Chung to Kate Middleton. Mrs Cave's moody, mystical style isn't just limited to clothing and accessories, but is now infecting the world of jet set style thanks to a new collaboration with Globe-Trotter.
When Susie Cave spoke about working with Globe-Trotter, she shared her memories of the brand, which she loves for its "classic elegance and beauty", such as the suitcase that belonged to Leonard Cohen and was given to her by one of her closest friends, photographer Dominique Issermann. The same suitcase was also the British designer's first gift to her husband Nick. Mr Cave is also part of the inspiration for the new designs: "It is for Nick that I have created The Black Collection for this Globe-Trotter collaboration. As a musician, Nick is eternally on tour, and loves to carry handsome luggage. The Wedding Collection is inspired by a most beautiful vanity case, a wedding gift from my Father to my Mother that she carried on her honeymoon. As a young girl. I was entranced by this beautiful piece of luggage - it is one of my earliest style memories."
The Vampire's Wife and Globe-Trotter collection is available to pre-order from Thursday 30 November and will be available in December on thevampireswife.com and globe-trotter.com, as well as in shops in London, Los Angeles and Japan and on matchesfashion.com.
