Iconic sandals and a sculptural bed in the Birkenstock x Toogood collection The first collaboration between the two brands includes also an apparel and accessories capsule
For its latest collaboration, Birkenstock has decided to go beyond the boundaries of fashion to enter the world of interior design and furniture, with an exceptional partner. For the Spring/Summer season, in fact, the brand has joined forces with Toogood, the design studio founded in London in 2008 by Faye Toogood. In addition to working closely with architects, sculptors, furniture makers and illustrators in different and composite projects, Faye co-founded the fashion branch of the business with her sister Erica, which combines the aesthetic vocations of both, on the one hand, the work on fabrics and silhouettes, on the other the attention to tailoring.
Birkenstock's first collaboration with Toogood draws on the shared values of the two brands, applying their strengths, such as functionality and sculptural design, to all aspects of daily life: walking, dressing, living and sleeping. The collection is based on a redefinition of classic Birkenstock footwear models, which take on an organic flavour thanks to the selection of materials, which include canvas, felt and suede. During the process of designing the new cuts and soft silhouettes of the sandals, the Toogood team developed the shapes from a series of sculptures handcrafted in the studio.
