JW Anderson's nordic sailors in the new Moncler Genius collection The latest chapter in the collaborative project inspired by Northern Ireland's fishermen and sunsets
JW Anderson's is certainly one of the most important voices in today's fashion world. Whether it's Loewe, the brand that bears his name or, as in this case, the new 1 Moncler JW Anderson collection, the new chapter of the Moncler Genius Project, the British designer never misses a beat. Just for this last chapter, created for the SS21 season, Anderson has rethought the classic Moncler repertoire in the light of an aesthetic inspired by nomadic travelers and the seafaring world: the fishermen of his native Northern Ireland, the sailors and their wives waiting for them on shore are all evoked through a technical wardrobe that looks at the performance but softened by Anderson's human touch and imagination , which injects all its colors and technicality into this imagery.
In conjunction with the release of the collection, Moncler and JW Anderson also presented a multidisciplinary cultural program, launching the first series of Moncler Genius podcasts in collaboration with the MUBI platform, which will create a visual/auditory path to tell the creativity and inspirations of Jonathan Anderson. The Moncler Genius podcast series comes to life on Spotify where the main protagonists of the fashion world are confronted on current topics. Presented by Serpentine Galleries Artistic Director Hans Ulrich Obrist, the inaugural episode describes Jonathan Anderson's personal journey that will explain the work behind the second collection for Moncler Genius. The selection of films on MUBI, on the other hand, ranges from author's short films to films about travel. In addition, a limited edition zine has been created that contains a conversation between the designer and Hans Ulrich Obrist, interspersed with a selection of images taken specifically for the launch of the collection.
