Prada Resort 2020 - A Seditious Simplicity The fashion house's collection last night was a contrast to Dior's production earlier this week
Last night Prada revealed their Resort 2020 collection at their headquarters in New York under the theme seditious simplicity. Creative director Miuccia Prada created a collection that she defined as the opposite of pretentious, a contrasting collection against the complex background of the world.
It’s simplicity as a protest against too much. I’m sensitive to the political situation; it affects me - she said.
Each look from the collection was clean and simple, this was not a season she chose to be playful but rather portray a feeling of elegance and sedition, not too fussy. The collection featured cotton as the lead fabric, there were peasant blouses, lots of hand embroideries, calico print jackets and pants, and utility suits. The designer also added splashes of leather, suede and faille fabrics.
The Prada 2020 Resort woman presented last night was a woman one who feels just as elegant in a pair of sneakers as she did in a pair of heels, Miuccia's portrayal of such an effortless woman is perfectly appropriate in such a time where the internet and media offer such an overload of visuals and information.
