Schools have been among the first institutions to adapt to the new measures of quarantine. What are the pros and cons of online classes?

IED Roma immediately put in action the emergency measures and it re-organized its schedule and programs to allow us to keep on studying and following our classes. Pros? I appreciate that I don't have to loose time anymore and that I have the possibility to keep following my courses. Cons? The lack of the complete experience. At school, you don't learn only by books: school is something more, something about people, meetings, getting together, coffee breaks, the long walks to come back home, the casual discovery through what you see everyday. These things, at home, they don't exist anymore.

The Fashion and Design Industries have been aggressively afflicted by the COVID-19 emergency. As a consumer, but also as a future insider of those systems, what will be the worst consequences of this crisis?

There will surely be a slow down of the entire industry, but I think that this will be the lesser evil of this crisis. I fear that it will be hard to take back our normality, but I also fear the stop of small activities.  In Italy there are a lot of great names and big brands, but they are not the only pieces of our design and fashion puzzle. There a re a lot of small industries that work well and with high quality, and they also contribute in making Italy great, but they still don't have experience and the consumers' trust.

Your work is built on creativity. Where do you find your inspiration in this moment?

In adapting. This is the basic of our job. We always find ourselves in the need for a change, with new collaborations, new brands, new products, new ideas. Everything is always changing. It is not conventional, but the greatest (and funniest) part of this challenge that we call "being a designer" is that you always need to face the most absurd situations and you have to figure a way out. My hints? This lockdown itself. There are so many things inside of it that I decided to investigate it for a school project. I hope that it will help me to fear it less.
