The map of Milan Design Week 2021 Your guide to the great return of the Fuorisalone

Before being the city of fashion, Milan is the city of design. The Salone del Mobile and its twin, the Fuorisalone, are two city events as much linked to Milanese public life as the feast of Sant'Ambrogio. And that's why, with the lockdown of 2020, the lack of Design Week had made itself felt a lot. But the city immediately ran for cover and brought back not a normal Salone del Mobile but a Supersalone from 4 to 10 September, curated by Stefano Boeri. Obviously the Supersalone will be accompanied by the highly anticipated Fuorisalone 2021 – whose program will be less populated by parties and huge gatherings as in the past, but which is rich enough in events, exhibitions and showrooms to keep the most avid lovers of Italian design busy.

For this year, the Supersalone will also open its doors to the public and, before the official Salone del Mobile in April, which this year will celebrate its sixtieth anniversary, will change the classic format of the exhibition fair with a new model of organization: circularity and safety will be the fundamental guidelines of an event, which however wants to transform the traditional schedule of the event-salon with lounge,  areas dedicated to historical study curated by ADI Design Museum and a public talk program, but also with the replacement of the closed pavilion with a system of open modular walls that create paths and interconnections between the various products and projects presented. The final appearance of the exhibition will therefore be similar to that of a library and will also include the possibility of purchasing the products on display. The event will also be phygital, with a dedicated digital platform that will act as an online catalog of the event, which can be consulted via QR Code.

This is why nss magazine wanted to draw up a map of the Design Week 2021, in which all the most interesting events, the most creative exhibitions and also the locations where you can spend relaxing, listening to music and having a drink when you are tired of walking are reported.
